There Through the Nightmares

Description

I was listening to Phil Collins' "You'll Be In My Heart" and got all emotional and ended up making this.
Just a little idea I thought up of Luffy having a nightmare about what happened at Marine Ford and his crewmates just being there for him through it.
You know how the song goes. "I will be here don't you cry" and "for one so small you seem so strong" just made me wanna emphasize how very loyal and bonded Luffy's crew is to him and I can see this happening.

So yeah. Enjoy

Usopp was the first to hear it. That pained, strangled whimper that slipped from the lips of his sleeping captain. Blinking slightly, Usopp peered over the edge of his hammock to see Luffy crying.
Since joining the Strawhats, Usopp had only ever seen Luffy cry once, and that was during the funeral of the Going Merry. For a moment, he wondered what Luffy could have been dreaming about that made his usually exuberant captain so sad. Luffy's muffled cries soon answered this unspoken question.
"Ace..."
Chopper was the next to awaken, having been pulled from his slumber at Luffy's cry. He and Usopp shared a look of understanding, neither of them saying a word. The pain Luffy was in was something all the medicine in the world couldn't fix.
Brook, who never really slept to begin with, came and sat down next to Luffy's hammock, his bony hand gently picking up Chopper and placing him in the sobbing Captain's arms. Luffy instinctively pulled Chopper close, a gesture that probably would have been met with protests had it been any other situation. Brook then began playing Bink's Brew on his violin as softly as he could, hoping the music might sooth the troubled captain.
Once the music started, Franky and Sanji both awoke, looking over at Luffy's hammock. Franky moved closer to the hammock, unable to do much more than sit and watch. Sanji also came closer, leaning against the hammock and resting his head on Luffy's ribs.
The last to wake up was Zoro, who observed the scene with a knowing silence. Without hesitation, he walked over, and Sanji scooted over, providing the swordsman with a place to sit.
They all knew what Luffy was dreaming about. They'd read the story, and they'd seen the scar. Marineford had forever left its mark on Luffy, and though they couldn't do anything back then, they could now. That's why they did this, why they set aside petty feuds or personal issues or other minor things whenever Luffy got like this. He had always been there for them.
Now it was there turn.
